Hello! Alara here! As you may know, i have both pcos and autism, and oftentimes, i feel fatigued and burnout. However I can't tell if its the pcos fatigue or autism burnout, because for me, they both feel similar! And worse, im already dealing with mental health struggles due to many things, and i end up resting poorly.
so, this post will be for myself really. since i will be talking about my experiences here.
so, like i said, i cant tell if its the pcos or the autism causing the fatigue, but it does have small differences in my experiences, so, i will list my symptoms below:
autism burnout:
-feeling irritated/"angrier" than usual
-sensory tolerance decreases
-but sensory seeking also increases (especially oral stimming)
-self-injury risk (yes, its a thing i experience, and no, it doesnt leave "scars")
pcos fatigue:
-feeling sleepier, and often "falling asleep" for short periods if im in "safe" spaces
-craving intesifies
-i just want to lay in bed and do nothing
and this is the part where i get confused, because these occur in both:
-tolerance for life decreases
-su*cidal thoughts and unwanted thoughts increase
-creativity decreases, and often feel unable to sit down or focus
-self care decreases (i used to struggle with this at childhood until 18, so, this
makes me scared)
-feeling more irritated, and sleepier
-want to cry but can't
-self-injury risk, if i do end up doing it, feeling guilty
-uh... i forgot (yeah, i forget things A LOT, and it impacts my life negatively)
-thinking "whatever, my day is already ruined" and continue making myself feel worse
-feeling heavy, and slower movements
and yeah, thats pretty much it... again, its my experiences only and i made this post since i dont see people talk about how pcos + autism burnout/fatigue can represent and how to tell the difference between both.
